Sudden cardiac arrest
Every year, thousands of people across the east of England have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Every second counts when someone collapses in cardiac arrest.
The following free CPR training events are currently planned as part of Restart a Heart Month. Further events may be added throughout October.
Please note: The events listed below are scheduled to take place throughout October but may be subject to change. We recommend checking this webpage before travelling to an event for the latest information, including any updates to times, locations or availability.

Every year, thousands of people experience a cardiac arrest, and early CPR can make a life-saving difference. That's why we're encouraging as many people as possible across the East of England to become ResusReady and help light up the ResusReady map created by Resuscitation Council UK.
Our goal is to build a community of confident lifesavers equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise a cardiac arrest, start CPR and use a defibrillator if needed.
You can register as ResusReady through the Resuscitation Council UK website and add yourself to the growing network of people who are prepared to act in an emergency.
When you register, you'll also have the opportunity to sign up as a GoodSAM volunteer responder. GoodSAM volunteers can receive alerts on their mobile phone when someone nearby suffers a cardiac arrest, enabling them to provide potentially life-saving assistance before emergency services arrive.
Register as ResusReady and help us create a lifesaving network across the East of England. ResusReady | Resuscitation Council UK
A defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of survival for someone experiencing a cardiac arrest.
“For every minute that someone’s in cardiac arrest without receiving CPR and having a defibrillator used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%.” - Resuscitation Council UK
Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) are located in communities throughout the East of England and are designed to be used by members of the public. They provide clear, step-by-step instructions and can be used safely by people with no formal medical training.
If a defibrillator is needed, our emergency call handlers will help direct callers to the nearest available device and explain how to use it.
