Summary of items considered at the meeting:
| Issue | Consideration | Resolution / Outcome | Assurance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charity Activity Update & Communications | The committee reviewed the activities that have recently taken place to promote the Charity and raise much needed funds from several opportunities. | The Charity was pleased to note that the new financial system was finally live and will help the team run the charity in a more effective way. This month’s Committee reviewed many of the activities that happened over the Christmas period – with the Charity supporting the Trust through many highly engaging initiatives. Two additional CFR cars have been purchased, and further funding is being sought for more. From a Communications perspective, the team had good engagement from the re-start a heart campaign and the Good Dog scheme. | Substantial |
| Welfare Wagons | Welfare Wagons is supporting our teams with feedback coming from the crews now | There are now 59 volunteers helping to provide support to the Trust through the Welfare Wagons. Previous committees had reviewed the effectiveness of the Welfare Wagons and the impact it had on the Trust’s staff, and it was proved to be beneficial. A £12k investment was agreed to help fund the consumables for the Wagons, and there were also kind donations from external companies (Kettle Chips) to provide additional items. | Substantial |
| Out of Hours Cardiac Arrest Project – Funded via the Charity | The committee reviewed the project progress to date with a deep dive overview from an advanced paramedic | Paramedics provide support to the public when they are trying to support an individual suffering with a cardiac arrest. They support by provided expert advice either via the phone, or by video call. They will give advice on how to do CPR correctly or in some situations confirm that the individual is beyond help. The team are joining 6-10 calls per day, totally 657 cardiac arrests. Early reports are positive that is helping to provide better (and more appropriate) patient care, support to the carer/bystander and it is helping the Trust be more effective – particularly in sending the right amount of resource to deal with the situation. The project will be shared at the ALF | Substantial |
| Charity Finance Report | The Charity has a good balance and continues to focus on generating more funds to support patients and staff with their activities | The charity is maintaining a reasonable level of unrestricted reserves for ongoing running costs as well as for discretionary projects. A total income of £543k was received against a spend of £406k There is a good correlation between income received and spending. The renumeration committee approved the re-allocation of £23.8k from the Burwell Legacy donation, to provide funding for a CFR car in Burwell and the wider area. This is closely aligned and respectful to the original legacy intention and was approved. | Substantial |
