An incredible piece of CPR equipment, a Lucas device, is saving lives in North Norfolk thanks to a legacy donation from Sagle Bernstein

Sagle left a donation to the East of England Ambulance Service Charity in her will after the care her sister received from the NHS in Cromer.

The Lucas is a powerful machine which delivers continuous high-quality CPR, allowing East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust clinicians to focus on additional advanced life support treatment in cardiac arrests.

This device has been gifted to the Cromer and Sheringham rapid response vehicle (RRV) which operates 24 hours 7 days a week.

Dale Meacham-Roberts, a Leading Operations Manager at EEAST, said:

“With RRVs often staffed by a single crew member, the Lucas device is a potential life saver. By taking over manual CPR, which can be physically exhausting, the Lucas allows solo clinicians to manage other critical aspects of patient care, coordinate with family, and prepare for patient transport.”

“Already, this device has played a key role in helping to revive patients in cardiac arrest emergencies.”

Kate Lott, Head of the East of England Ambulance Service Charity, said:

“This life-saving equipment is making an incredible difference, and we’re truly grateful for the support that’s made this possible. Sagle’s legacy will continue to bring life-saving care to those who need it.”
