EEAST honours almost 1,500 years of service in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire
Date: 29 July 2025The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) proudly celebrated the outstanding dedication of staff and volunteers at the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Long Service Awards, held earlier this month at Tewinbury Farm, near Welwyn Garden City.
The event recognised more than 40 exceptional individuals whose combined service to healthcare spans almost 1,500 years.
Attendees enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea before receiving their awards from Neill Moloney, Chief Executive of EEAST, and Hein Scheffer, Director of Strategy and Transformation.
A range of honours were presented, including Ambulance Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, NHS Service Awards, and Volunteer Service Awards, recognising service milestones from 10 to 40 years.
Special Recognition
- Karen Darling, who is based in Stevenage, was honoured for an incredible 40 years of ambulance service, receiving the Ambulance Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for 40 years of exemplary service. Karen is a leading operations manager in the area.

- Alison Cumberland, a specialist clinician who works in our Bedford emergency operations centre, received the 40-year NHS Service Award for four decades of service to healthcare. In her current role, Alison helps treat patients who don’t require an ambulance response over the phone.
