Date: 24 June 2026

Ambulance staff in Bedfordshire and Luton have been formally recognised and thanked for over 400 years of combined service to the NHS, at a long service event in Bedford.

EEAST Chief Operating Officer Darren Meads and CEO Neill Moloney present a long service award to Marc Stanbridge, Head of Clinical Operations for Bedfordshire and Luton

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) proudly celebrated the outstanding dedication of staff at the event, which was held on 19 June at Woodland Manor Hotel in Clapham, Bedford.

The event recognised 16 exceptional individuals whose combined service to healthcare spans 425 years.

Attendees enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea before receiving their awards from Neill Moloney, Chief Executive of EEAST, and Marc Stanbridge, Head of Clinical Operations for Bedfordshire and Luton.

Seven people received Ambulance Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medals for 20 years’ frontline ambulance service. Ten colleagues received a coin to celebrate 25 years of NHS service, and one colleague was recognised for an incredible 35 years of NHS service.

EEAST CEO Neill Moloney said: "It was an honour to recognise the incredible dedication and service of our colleagues in Bedfordshire and Luton. Together, they represent over 400 years of commitment to patient care, compassion, and professionalism.

"Every year we recognise the extraordinary service of so many individuals in the ambulance service, who each play a vital role in keeping our communities safe and supported. On behalf of the Trust and the NHS, I want to thank them for their outstanding contribution."

This year is also the 20th anniversary of the formation of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. On 1 July 2006, the region’s three ambulance services – Essex, East Anglia, and Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire – formally merged to create one ambulance service for the whole region.
