The East of England Ambulance Service Charity is launching the £9.99 Challenge from 20 August to 9 September, encouraging people to donate £9.99, take on a challenge linked to the numbers in 999, and nominate friends, family and colleagues to get involved.

The campaign aims to celebrate and support the people behind the blue lights, including ambulance crews, emergency operations centre staff, community first responders, volunteers and support teams who help deliver emergency care across the region.

Supporters can choose their own challenge, from walking 999 metres, baking 999 treats, completing 99 star jumps, or getting nine friends to donate £9.99.

Simon Chase, Chief Paramedic and Director of Quality at EEAST, said:

"When someone dials 999, our ambulance service is there during some of the most difficult moments in people's lives.

"This 999 Day, we're inviting communities across the east of England to show their support through the £9.99 Challenge. Whether you donate, take on a challenge or encourage others to get involved, every contribution will help us continue supporting patients, staff, volunteers and communities across our region.

"We want this to be a fun, accessible challenge that everyone can take part in."

Throughout the campaign, participants will be sharing their challenges on social media using the hashtag #999Challenge, helping to spread awareness of the charity's work and inspiring others to get involved.

East of England Ambulance Service Charity funds projects that go beyond NHS provision, helping to enhance the care and support available to patients, ambulance staff, volunteers and local communities.

Individuals, community groups and workplaces are all invited to take part.

How to get involved:
