'Time to celebrate' our EEAST volunteers!

Date: 01 June 2019

Volunteers Week 2019

This year Volunteers week falls on 1st – 7th June and we’re using the opportunity to say thank you to all of our hardworking volunteers here at EEAST!

We have over 1,500 volunteers covering all six counties here at the East of England Ambulance Service offering their time in a range of roles. Our volunteers play an incredibly important part within the Trust and their hard work, dedication and support help us to provide the 24/7 support to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our Interim Chief Executive, Dorothy Hosein said: “Volunteers are absolutely essential to the day to day running of our service, so we really do owe you all a huge thank you for everything you do for us.”

This Volunteers Week is the perfect opportunity to say thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and highlight their essential work within the Trust.

Each day this week (1st – 7th June) we’ll be going into further detail about each of our volunteer groups. We have five main volunteer groups here at EEAST:

  • Volunteer car drivers
  • Community first responders (CFRs)
  • Community engagement group (CEG)
  • Chaplains
  • Critical care charities

From videos to blogs and a special feature of our #HumansofEEAST campaign, we have a wide range of coverage of our volunteer groups, so make sure to keep an eye out on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Non-Executive Director, Andrew Egerton-Smith said: “On behalf of the Trust, I want to thank you all very much indeed for the level of commitment which you show to the Trust and to the patients of East Anglia by volunteering in a number of areas.”

Want a sneak preview…

Did you know? Our CFRs volunteered 455,345 hours in 2018/19. That’s the equivalent of just over 18,972 days or 51 years!
