Ben Hawkins Folksworth CFRS

A life-saving volunteer is overcoming his fear of heights by jumping out of a plane in an effort to raise funds for a community first responder (CFR) group.

Ben Hawkins, one half of the Folksworth CFR group in Cambridgeshire, will be taking part in sponsored sky dive on 1st December.

With a target of £2,000, Ben is hoping that if he hits the mark the group can use the money to buy a new defibrillator, replacing their soon to out-of-date equipment.

Ben,19, said: “I know what a lot of people are thinking, why jump out of a perfectly good plane? I guess I must be crazy especially since I’m terrified of heights!

"With my fellow CFR Tony, we volunteer an average 475 hours a month and this year alone we have attended seven people in cardiac arrest and had to use our defibrillator multiple times. We never know who we will be called to help - it could be anyone. We're happy to do it but we're just asking if people can help us so we can be there to help others."
