PTS vehicles in Cambridge

It is a service that drove the equivalent of 240 times around the world last year.

The region’s ambulance service will be shining a light on its non-emergency transport service next week.

Staff and volunteers from the Patient Transport Service (PTS) will be taking over the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s (EEAST) social media from 4th to 10th September.

The Trust will be sharing stories and videos during PTS Takeover about the work of the non-emergency service, which carried out more than 530,000 patient journeys in 2016/17 and drove more than six million miles.

The service transports eligible patients to and from routine medical appointments in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, South Essex, North Essex, West Essex and Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

The service will be using #PTStakeover on Twitter at @EastEnglandAmb, and users of Facebook and YouTube will also be able to follow the takeover week.
