The non-emergency transport service has been praised for being “excellent” and “first class” by patients in South Essex, Cambridgeshire and Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

More than 300 people who recently used the Patient Transport Service (PTS) to get to and from routine appointments completed questionnaires.

And the results for the three areas show that more than 90% of respondents rated the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) service as very satisfactory or satisfactory.

Nine out of 10 added that it was likely or extremely likely that they would recommend the South Essex, Cambridgeshire and Great Yarmouth and Waveney services to a friend or family member.

One patient praised the “extreme helpfulness and courtesy” of staff and another said PTS staff were a “credit” to the service. Another said staff were “always polite and cheerful”.

Liz McEwan, Head of Non-Emergency Services, said: “We are delighted that so many patients highly rate the service we provide. This is testament to the hard work of everyone working in PTS.

“Some 40 per cent of our patients say they would not be able to attend their appointments if PTS did not exist, which demonstrates the importance of the service.”
