A dispatch team has been shortlisted for a national award that aims to recognise the work of control room stars.

Norwich Ambulance Operations Centre (AOC) Team One is in with a chance of being crowned Team of the Year by APD Control Room Awards 2020.

Taking place for the third consecutive year, the awards shine a light on individuals and teams who go above and beyond in their roles every day and are the only accolades of their kind to recognise such work across the UK.

Team One leader, Jeanette Sharp said: “As a team we have worked together to help and support each other through all of the challenges which have faced us.

“Team One recently saw the Trust through an unprecedented busy period of activity, which we handled with composure, teamwork, respect and above all a good humour.

“Unfortunately, we also have had to deal with the very sad loss of a dear colleague and friend. With the help, support and love of the whole team, we have managed to continue to deliver a quality service without interruptions to the general public.

“We are a fun team, who take their jobs very seriously and strive to be the very best that we can be every shift, alongside that we are also a close team who genuinely care for each other. We very much embody the keep calm and carry on spirit.”

The awards are run by APD Communications, which develops life-saving software used by the emergency services, as well as transport and aviation operations.

A total of almost 400 nominations were received from 80 organisations, with each nominee receiving a badge of honour.

The shortlisted entries were selected by a panel of six judges with vast experience of working in or with the emergency services and critical control organisations.

All finalists have been invited to the awards ceremony at Jury’s Inn in Leicestershire, on 5 March to discover who the winners are.
