Essex CFR group named as finalists in national awards
Date: 18 July 2019
This week it has been announced that one of our community first responder (CFR) groups in Essex has been shortlisted as finalists in the UK Heart Safe Awards 2019.
We want to extend a huge congratulations to our Colchester CFR group who have made it to the final shortlist for the ‘Community Responder’ category of the awards alongside only five other groups from around the country.
This year they were deservedly awarded their place in the final for their defibrillator programme.
Defibrillators can increase chances of survival in a cardiac arrest by around 80%. The important work our Colchester CFRs have been doing with their defibrillator programme is helping to make sure a defibrillator is accessible no matter where you are around the Colchester region in a patient’s time of need, to help save as many lives as possible.
Steve Catley, Lead Community Response Manager at EEAST said: “We are incredibly proud of the Colchester group for all the time and work they have put into their defibrillator programme which has led to their nomination.
Their place as a finalist in this year’s UK Heart Safe Awards is thoroughly well deserved and we will be rooting for them in October when the winners are announced.”
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday 4th October at The Principal Manchester Hotel and we wish all finalists the best of luck on the night.
