EEAST Clinical Briefing Days a triumph!

Date: 13 October 2017

Clinical Briefing day NTK

Clinical excellence and development has been celebrated at our latest clinical briefing days as staff and volunteers from around the Trust took time to visit Newmarket Racecourse for the two-day event.

Focussing on back to basics, the lectures focussed on important clinical areas like the science behind resuscitation, a deep dive analysis of the East of England Trauma Network, as well as learning from other emergency services like Wales and London ambulance services.

All the guests were treated to talks and workshops from some of the country’s leading experts in pre hospital care, including the fantastic Dr Ron Daniels from the UK Sepsis Trust, Dave Halliwell, who founded Lifecast Body Simulation and Aimee Yarrington, a paramedic and midwife!

Between the lectures there was the opportunity to look at the latest tools available to pre-hospital staff, like the Corpuls automatic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) machine as well as lifelike mannequins that could be injected and drilled like a real person. All members of staff also had the opportunity to receive a free flu jab, with the Trust's executive team leading the way and having their jabs ready for winter.

Head of Clinical Quality Tracy Nicholls said: "It's been fantastic to see so many staff wanting to take the time to attend this event and really engage with the subjects. I'm proud to work for an organisation that always looks to develop it's practices and works to be better every day. I would also like to thank all of our speakers, who took the time to come and talk, as well as everyone behind the scenes working tirelessly to make this such a successful two days."

Chief Executive Robert Morton added: "As an organisation we must constantly learn from our own and others experiences. We don't work in silos. We are proud to present our successes and open when talking about failures. I'm humbled to see so many people, not just from EEAST but other organisations, who have the same mindset and want to achieve together."

The Trust would like to thank Newmarket Racecourse, as well as all of the event sponsors and stall holders throughout the two days for making it such a fantastic event. Next year’s events are already being discussed!
