Ambulance service sees rise in public compliments
Date: 29 April 2017
Everyone loves a compliment, and we at the ambulance service are no different. And over the last 12 months more than 2,100 of you got in touch to thank our staff and volunteers, a truly incredible figure.
The total is an increase of almost 30% compared with the previous year. To be more specific, 2,117 compliments were received from April 2016 to last month, a marked improvement on 1,716 received in 2015-16.
And whilst we love to receive compliments, complaints also help us improve the service we provide to you. We received 1,761 complaints over the last 12 months, compared to 1,125 in 2015-16. But our bosses are pleased to see that compliments still outweigh the complaints.
Last November was the Patient Experience Team’s busiest month with 263 compliments received, beating the 2015 figure by more than 110. Whilst complaints remained relatively low at 132, up from the 94 received the year before.
Sandy Brown, Director of Nursing and Clinical Quality said: “Feedback from our patients is vital to improving the service we deliver, both in compliments and complaints. However I am delighted to see that we have received more compliments than complaints, something that is continually reflected in our monthly patient experience reports.”
