The latest news and developments at the region’s ambulance service will be on the agenda at this week’s Board meeting.

An update on the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s (EEAST) financial position, the winter pressures on the service and the impact on performance, and next year’s contract with commissioners will be discussed by the Board during the meeting at HQ in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire on Wednesday (29th March).

The Board will also be hearing about the proposed work on developing the Trust’s fleet and estates. These programmes are looking at how EEAST can deliver the most modern fleet and estates which supports better patient care, reduces emissions and is more efficient, whilst also reviewing the potential to bring some fleet services in house. These will help improve our services to patients and give our staff better facilities to work from.

The meeting will also hear about the implementation of the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian arrangements and the revised Whistleblowing Policy, as well as NHS Improvement’s recent review into the sustainability of all 10 ambulance trusts in England which has led to EEAST, West Midlands and East Midlands ambulance services meeting with NHSI to discuss how to improve collaborative working.

Chair Sarah Boulton will also highlight the success of this month’s mental health engagement day for commissioner, local authority, third sector and provider colleagues: “This was very well organised by Area Clinical Lead Duncan Moore, ably supported by a number of EEAST colleagues and it was great to see the real appetite there is among all parties in the East of England to improve the service provision in this sector.”

Members of the public are invited to the meeting, which begins at 1.30pm. Twitter users can also follow the meeting using #EEASTBoard.
