Final respects to Barry England
Date: 29 April 2020
The funeral of our former colleague Barry England will take place tomorrow in Barnstaple, Devon. Under the current restrictions, EEAST will be represented by Jonathan Perry, Assistant General Manager, Mid Hertfordshire.
As is customary, the EEAST flag will be lowered for three days as a mark of respect.
Jonathan paid the following tribute:
Barry was a big and bold character within the West Herts area and his passing has left a big void in the management team and the area as a whole. Barry’s sense of humour, personality and demeanour made him one of a kind and he was never one to shy away from making his feelings known whether it be for comedy value or more serious matters.
Barry was very passionate for staff wellbeing and was always quick to question and challenge any matters which related to staff issues. He may have had a hardened exterior but he was caring and compassionate under this. Barry was immensely proud of his career in the ambulance service and the challenges and experiences that comes with this.
We are all understandably shocked and upset by Barry’s passing and it is going to take time for us all to accept and process this loss. During this tragic time we need to support one another while we come to terms with the sad and sudden news.
