23369 - 2019 - Pre-Hospital Deaths

Under Freedom Of Information, I am seeking to receive any statistics available which concern the number of pre-hospital deaths within the U.K or East of England as recorded this year, or any other year within the last five years please. Alternatively, it would be helpful to know any more concise figures relating to cardiac arrests or sudden deaths which were recognised as extinct pre-hospitally.

The Trust collects Cardiac Arrest Data as part of its Clinical Audit Programme.

For the year 01/08/2018-31/08/2019 the Trust attended 10,074 cardiac arrest incidents.
The Trust had 3,874 workable arrests (where the Trust continued or started CPR on the patient) and 6,200 non workable arrests (where the patient had died before or when the Trust arrived).

Information on Cardiac Arrests and data on our ROSC figures can be found on the NHS England Statistic website: https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/ambulance-quality-indicators/ and this is updated monthly, along with the other Ambulance Trust’s data.
