19471 - Oral Morphine

Currently SWAST have amended guidelines to indicate the use of oral morphine, to relieve dyspnoea, in advanced cancer. This is outside of the JRCALS guidelines.
Can you please confirm if your trust would also administer morphine in this way or if you follow JRCALC guidelines and administer for moderate - severe pain only.

EEAST no longer have ‘oral’ preparation of Morphine (oramorph) within our formulary.

The Trust would however administer any medications that are prescribed to the patient and in the patient’s possession as an ‘anticipatory’ or ‘just in case’ formulary specific to the patient.
