18570 - Budget

I have to do a project on how the “ reported” budget cuts have affected the performance of the East of England ambulance service, their staff and patients. I have a lot of information on performance etc, but I must admit I thought they therefore received an amount of budget which had been reduced over the last few years due to austerity which meant the government gave less money for the nhs who then gave less money as a budget to the EEAST?   If it does not work like this would you mind explaining to me how the EEAST receive their funding and what the levels have been over the last day 5 years? I have seen from reports that it says they “spent “ ( which I thought was a strange way to say it if it was a budget) £213.5 mils in 2017/18,  and that it was due to go up to £224 in 2018/19 and £240 in 2018/20.  I thought these last numbers were therefore the budget, so I was trying to find out what the equivalent numbers were over the last 5 years?
