17015 - Heat Related Calls

1)      Please can you disclose the numbers of call-outs your ambulance crews received for heat exposure and all other forms of heat related ill-health that you record on your system (heat stroke, dehydration etc) – with figures for each type of chief complaint logged; for each of the months March, April, May, June and July for the following financial years:

b.      2014-15
c.       2015-16
d.      2016-17
e.      2017-18

    Please find attached the spread sheet FOI – 17015, please note there is only one AMPDS code which relates to heat. It is important to note also, that all calls are categorised based on information provided by the caller rather than any clinical diagnosis once Trust staff arrive on scene. Also it is essential to remember we may code calls due to the injury sustained rather than the heat being the factor – for example patients may have fainted, be unconscious or have breathing difficulties and would be coded under these cards of AMPDS rather than ‘Heat’. The heat related AMPDS code may not be the most reliable indicator of heat related incidents
