Volunteer for the Ambulance Car Service (ACS)

As a patient transport service, we utilise volunteers to undertake some of our patient journeys.  The Ambulance Car Service is a valuable, comfortable and a punctual way of transporting patients to routine appointments. Ambulance Car Drivers often convey regular patients and they develop strong relationships with them. For the drivers themselves, the experience can be very fulfilling.

If you want to volunteer, you will need to apply and meet certain requirements, such as passing an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check, holding a good driving record and having a safe and reliable vehicle. Volunteers are not paid for their time but do receive a mileage allowance to compensate for their driving expenses.

You can download the ambulance car service handbook to learn more about the role, rules and regulations.

To find out more, contact the locality office nearest you and ask to speak with someone about volunteering for the ambulance car service.
