GP Out of Hours Service

GP Out of Hours

We provide GP out of hours care in Norfolk and parts of Essex.   These services operate when your local GP surgery is closed.

When you, or a member of your family is taken ill outside the normal surgery opening times you can contact the service by ringing your normal surgery number.  You will either be transferred direct to the service or given another number to call via an answerphone message.

Callers will be assessed on the telephone by a doctor, and then receive one of the following:

  • Telephone advice
  • An invitation to attend a primary care centre
  • A visit from an Emergency Care Practioner or a nurse
  • A visit from a GP

The out of hours period is defined as:

  • 18:30 to 08:00 Monday to Friday
  • Weekends 18.30 Friday to 08:00 Monday
  • Public and Bank Holidays
