Patient and public involvement and engagement

The Trust recognises that to create a patient centred organisation there has to be real involvement and engagement with service users, local people and groups so that they can genuinely influence decisions.

To ensure the Trust is patient focused; we have a communications and engagement strategy to ensure that patients and the public are involved at all stages of the service development.   The patient and public involvement (PPI) team work to deliver the strategy and have an annual work plan to take this forward.

The role of the PPI team includes:

The PPI team regularly take the EEAST public engagement stand to events and shopping centres in the region. The team provide the opportunity for members of the public to have their blood pressure taken and find out information about preventing stroke and the importance of knowing your blood pressure.

The team also give out information on volunteering for the Trust, recruitment, message in a bottle pots and ask the public to share their experiences and views of the ambulance service with the team. To find out when the team will next be in your area, visit our events diary.

The Trust continues to maintain good relationships with HealthWatch and local communities by attending local events and engaging with community groups. For a list of our latest activity with HealthWatch in our region please see our Healthwatch activity register or view our Healthwatch page.
